Professional Bio
As Executive Director, Steve helps steward the overall direction and growth of the network. His work focuses on strengthening the community of peers who make up PCP, cultivating partnerships across the broader philanthropic landscape, and ensuring that PCP continues to serve as a trusted place where Christian grantmakers can learn from one another. He works closely with PCP’s staff and board to shape the organization’s strategy, expand opportunities for learning and collaboration, and represent the community in conversations across the philanthropic sector.
Before joining PCP, Steve spent twelve years in philanthropy at Cornerstone Trust, a private foundation in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During his tenure, he led a range of grantmaking portfolios focused on global issues such as orphan care, economic development, and human trafficking. In later years, he led a team with a geographic focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, with particular emphasis on the Sahel region of West Africa, the Horn of Africa, South Sudan, and eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The Trust partners with Christian organizations to catalyze Kingdom impact in some of the world’s least reached and least resourced regions.
Prior to his work in philanthropy, Steve spent more than a decade in local church ministry, where he served in and eventually led the outreach department for a large church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During that time, he also founded 20 Liters, a clean water organization, where he served as Executive Director.
A lifelong learner, Steve holds master’s degrees in Historical Theology, International Development with an emphasis in Monitoring and Evaluation, and Reconciliation and Peacebuilding.
