As digital spaces become an increasingly significant part of everyday life, they are also becoming an increasingly significant part of the mission field. What does this mean for evangelism? How are Christian leaders around the world thinking about this shift? And what might it mean for those seeking to thoughtfully steward resources for Kingdom impact?
Over the past two years, PCP members have had the opportunity to follow Lausanne's global research journey as it has explored the changing landscape of the Great Commission. Following conversations on the State of the Great Commission Report and the Global Voices Report, we now have the opportunity to be among the first groups to engage with Lausanne's newest research on digital evangelism prior to its public release later this summer.
One of the clearest findings from Lausanne's previous research was the growing significance of the digital world. Nearly 95% of Christian leaders from around the globe agreed that digital spaces are now a vital part of the mission field, while also expressing uncertainty about how effectively the Church is representing Jesus online and whether digital engagement is leading to genuine discipleship. The opportunity is significant, but the path forward is still being discerned.
Drawing on Lausanne's latest research, Matthew Nierman will explore how digital technologies are reshaping evangelism around the world, what emerging approaches are showing promise, and where important questions remain. Together, we'll consider what these insights may mean for Christian philanthropy as funders seek to faithfully and thoughtfully engage an increasingly digital landscape.

About Matthew Niermann
Matthew Niermann serves as Director of Global Research for the Lausanne Movement, where he leads major research initiatives exploring the changing landscape of the Great Commission, including the State of the Great Commission Report, the Global Voices Report, and Lausanne's latest research on digital evangelism. He also serves as Associate Dean and Professor at California Baptist University. Through his work with Lausanne, Matthew has helped equip Christian leaders around the world to better understand emerging global trends and their implications for mission, discipleship, and the future of the Church.
