De Wet Spies

De Wet serves as the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Manager for Mergon Foundation and the Strategy Director for the SSA portfolio at Maclellan Foundation. A native South African, he brings extensive ministry experience from across the African continent. From 2008 to 2013, he served as a full-time staff member at Every Nation Pretoria Church, helping plant a multi-congregation church. He then served as a missionary in South Sudan and Kenya, planting a campus church and directing a non-profit media house. Before joining Mergon in 2020, he headed a business incubator in South Africa. Driven by a passion to see God’s Kingdom expand in Africa, De Wet's current role combines his love for ministry, non-profit leadership,
and business where he finds great fulfilment by working with diverse groups on meaningful projects.

Based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, he and his wife, Miemie, are raising their four daughters. As adventurers at heart, they are always seeking new opportunities to travel across the continent, discovering new places and connecting with diverse people.
